Gilmore Girls-Connecticut: The small town of Stars Hollow is a dream town to live in
This comedy-drama by Amy Sherman-Palladino is based in the small town Stars Hollow, Connecticut. It is a fictional town home to Rory and Lorelai Gilmore but took inspiration from Litchfield Hills in New England. This show portrays a quaint town but was actually filmed in California at Warner Bros. Studios. The pilot was shot in Unionville, Ontario, but the rest of the show was shot in Burbank, California. Many locations were used in this series, such as the Greystone Mansion and Park in Beverly Hills, to represent Rory’s Chilton Preparatory Academy in Hartford, CT. In the show, Rory visited Harvard, filmed at U.C.L.A. Pomona College, and was used to shoot her jaunt to Yale.
The producer of “Gilmore Girls” was inspired after visiting Washington, Connecticut. To recreate the small town feel, Lorelai worked at an inn known and modeled after the very real-life establishment of Washington’s Mayflower Grace Inn and South Royalton. Stars Hollow had local places like Luke’s Diner and the town center to portray a close-knit community.
