Deadwood-Deadwood, South Dakota: An inside look at the American West in the 1870s
Deadwood is an American western show which aired from 2004 to 2006. Set in 1870, Deadwood, South Dakota, this partially historically inaccurate tv show made a mark on the town. Although set in South Dakota, the show was shot on a Hollywood ranch called the Melody Film Ranch in Newhall, California.
The location has been a go-to option for many major western-style stories. The storyline revolved around the city and its laws and lifestyle. The characters portray real-life inhabitants of the town and other historical figures like Civil War Army officer George Crook and folk hero of the old west Wild Bill Hickok. The show used actual diaries and newspapers from 1870s Deadwood residents to accurately portray their stories and look of the settings.
