These TV Shows Take Place All Over The United States But Weren’t Exactly Filmed in the Plot’s City

The Young Riders-Nebraska: This show lasted longer than the historic Pony Express

Yet another western-type series, “The Young Riders,” was set around young Pony Express riders in Nebraska at the Sweetwater Station. Premiering in 1989 and ending in 1992, the three-season series did well in ratings and viewer approval. The pilot series was shot in California, but subsequent episodes were set up in Tucson, Arizona, filming in “Mescal”, a western-themed movie town.

The producers chose Old Tuscan Studios to shoot most of the show because of its authentic appearance. Like every other show on this list, there were good and bad ratings, but they sure did leave many viewers sad with their departure. Episodes were based on real Pony Express destinations, and some characters were younger versions of historical figures.
