These TV Shows Take Place All Over The United States But Weren’t Exactly Filmed in the Plot’s City

Roseanne-Illinois: This local family’s house is actually located in Indiana

The setting of “Roseanne” took place in the fictional residential town of Lanford, Illinois. The show later reveals that the family lives near Aurora, Elgin, and DeKalb, near Chicago. Establishing shots of the series were shot in Evansville, Indiana, the hometown of the producer of the first season, Matt Williams. The house the Conners live in is also a real house located in Evansville.

The exterior part of the household is located at 619 S. Runnymeade Avenue, which is very close to Williams’ alma mater, the University of Evansville. Based on the gay character portrait, Barr’s real-life brother and sister are gay, which is truly one of the people’s lifestyles in the city portrayed to the audience. The rest of the show was filmed in CBS Studios in California.
