Glee-Ohio: Gleeks performed in midwestern high school classrooms to the Big Apple
“Glee” has a fictional setting at the William McKinley High School in Lima, Ohio. The small town and high school feel are portrayed in the show because the producer grew up in Indiana and loved visiting the state. However, it was not filmed in Ohio. The show was filmed t Paramount Studios and Helen Bernstein High School in Hollywood, as well as in the theatre district of New York City at the famous restaurant, Sardi’s, Tiffany & Co. building on Fifth Avenue, the Alex Theatre, and Glendale.
There were many references to the normal high school lifestyles in postmodern musicals with the Chicago format and a form of escapism from the hustle and bustle of life. The cast was often seen at school and conveyed mostly in an empty classroom with their teacher and music director, Mr. Schuester.
