Yellowstone-Montana: You can rent a cabin at the famous Yellowstone Dutton Ranch
The setting and filming of “Yellowstone” took place in Yellowstone, Montana, while the scripts were written in Livingston. The main set of the series is the Chief Joseph Ranch near Darby, Montana, a place used as the home of John Dutton. The set is an actual 5,000-square-foot mansion with a real cattle and horse ranch, home to a real-life family that rents it out.
When not filming in Montana, “Yellowstone” scenes are located in Utah cities Promontory Club, Spanish Fork, Salt Flats, and Park City. They show authentic scenery like running rivers and beautiful mountains. The series is a typical reflection of the lifestyle of Montana as it shows the life of ranchers and the struggle of a ranching family.
