These TV Shows Take Place All Over The United States But Weren’t Exactly Filmed in the Plot’s City

F.R.I.E.N.D.S-New York: Seinfeld may depict iconic NY, but Friends has its own classic NYC references

“Friends” is an American sitcom produced by David Crane and Marta Kauffman. It aired on September 22, 1994, and ended on May 6, 2004. The show was based in Manhattan, New York, and depicts the lives of six friends navigating their 20s, focusing on sex, career, and love. The main scenes occur in the friends’ NYC apartment living rooms and at the local coffee shop. However, the show was filmed in Los Angeles and California’s Burbank by Warner Bros. Studios.

Within the ten seasons and 236 episodes, there are some real-life locations you can track and visit. Monica and Rachel’s apartment (across the hall from Chandler and Joey) was located on the corner of Grove and 90 Bedford Street. Chandler’s office was Solow Building, located on West 57th close to Billionaire’s Row and Trump Tower. On West 58th Street is The Plaza Hotel, the fabulous turreted remnant of the Gilded. It was here the friends met to celebrate Monica and Chandler’s engagement in the opening episode of Season 7. Other real-life locations include Bloomingdales on Third Ave, where Rachel worked.
