Hearing What an Ankle Surgery Sounds Like
Ankle and ligament surgeries may seem easy, but that is not the case because ankle surgery can lead to loss of limbs if not done correctly. During these surgeries, you are expected to keep whatever the doctor asks you to keep in place, otherwise it may be detrimental. This woman had ankle surgery in 2005, and in the process, she woke up to the sound of a drill and felt pressure on her foot.
Thankfully they did not feel any pain. On waking up, the patient looked directly at the anesthesiologist, who immediately gave her another dose and put her back under. This lady asked the anesthesiologist how long into the surgery she woke up, and they said she was 15 minutes to needing another anesthesiologist before she woke up. The anesthesiologist told the lady that she scared her with how she woke up because it was her first experience of anybody waking up on the surgery table.
