Are they red or purple?
We’d like to assume that while naming vegetables, people fell short of different types of colors, so they named the veggies after the nearest color they resembled. Red onions, for example, don’t appear red at all; they’re more purplish or magenta.
Many people will argue that they do have a hint of red, but it doesn’t work that way. Just because you ate a bag of nachos doesn’t make you 1% nacho! We say, ditch the colors; how about we call them just onions? Plain, simple onions!
