Let us set the scene for you: you took a few extra days off of work or school or what have you to recharge, you’re wearing your biggest, comfiest hoodie and sweatpants, your favorite soup is simmering in the kitchen, and you’ve cracked open a window to let the crisp fall air in, now there is only one thing left to do: pick the show you want to binge; but not just any show, something comforting. Feeling at a loss? Well, we’re here to help! Here is the list of our absolute favorite comfort shows to binge on.
The Office
The concept of the office is pretty simple; it’s a mockumentary about a paper company in Scranton, PA, but it’s the absolute nonsense and endearing character development for us.
New Girl
New Girl, starring the loveable Zooey Deschanel, is about a quirky teacher living with three dudes in Los Angeles and all the shenanigans these four find themselves in. We promise you won’t be able to stop this show once you get started, and we mean that in the best possible way. There’s heartbreak and romance and a ton of laughs along the way. And as a side note, if you ever figure out the rules to True American, let us know.
Parks and Recreation
If you’re a fan of The Office or any mockumentary, then you must curl up with Parks and Recreation and all your favorite snacks. This all-star cast includes Amy Poehler, Nick Offerman, Aubrey Plaza, Aziz Ansari, and more.
30 Rock
30 Rock is the inception of shows in that it’s a sitcom about a sitcom, but it’s really the chaotic characters and writing that we love most. Another all-star cast that includes Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin, Jack McBrayer, and more.
Grace and Frankie
Grace and Frankie starts off strong when both Grace and Frankie’s husbands come out as gay and in love with each other, and as you can imagine hilarity ensues.
Will and Grace
Will and Grace is the ultimate comfort show in our opinion; the show originally aired for eight seasons, and recently returned for a three-season reboot, so there is plenty to binge on. Set in New York City the show is predominantly about Will, a gay lawyer, and his best friend Grace, an interior designer; but it’s really the two comedic reliefs, Jack and Karen, that will leave you wanting, nay, needing more. The Golden Girls
If you ever stayed homesick in the ’90s, you already know The Golden Girls is where it’s at. Set in Miami, Florida the show focuses on four single roommates and when we say this is a wild bunch, we mean it. The one-liners alone are enough to keep you going back for more, but what we love most is after a few episodes, it really feels like you’re just hanging out with your closest friends.
Bob’s Burgers
Calling all animation lovers, Bob’s Burgers is by far our favorite adult cartoon series to binge on. This show is about, you guessed, a fellow named Bob and his burger joint. But trust us when we say there is so much more to it than that. This is an easy watch that is both hilarious and comforting.
