This is a standard practice in a lot of Italian restaurants that serve spaghetti. Instead of mixing the sauce in the pasta, they serve a dollop of sauce on top of it, and then you’ll have to figure out how to evenly spread it without creating a mess on the dining table for which you’ll probably be judged.

At least when you are cooking at home, it is a nice thing to do because that way, the sauce will coat every noodle evenly, and you wouldn’t have to worry about running out of sauce.
