Billy Zane almost played Johnny
Good thing there was a change in the scriptwriter’s plan, or Patrick Swayze would have been replaced with Billy Zane, which would be a disappointment to everybody. The producer originally had an idea to make the lead male an Italian dancer who is supposed to be dark, exotic, and the perfect image of a bad boy and Billy Zane fit this description.
Thankfully, the writer demanded that the main male actor should have excellent dancing skills, which Billy Zane lacked. Fortunately, Patrick Swayze knew more about dance and could carry out moves cleanly, making him perfect for the role.
