Patrick was offered over $5 million for the sequel, but he rejected it
After the first film’s success, studios wanted to cash in on the movie’s popularity by creating a sequel immediately. They offered Swayze $5 million to return for the sequel as Johnny, but he wasn’t a fan of sequels and declined, despite the jaw-dropping pay.
Patrick wasn’t a big fan of making sequels as he believed they would not be able to recreate the magic of the first film, and fans applauded him for his decision as the sequel performed poorly when it was released. However, he ended up appearing in a cameo to at least give the movie some originality.
