McDonald’s restaurants arrived to Japan in the ’70s
Japan is well-known for having super-healthy diets and lifestyles. However, when McDonald’s opened their first restaurant in 1973, the Japanese went crazy. They started visiting the fast-food chain once or twice a week and gorging on sodium-rich burgers and fries.
In fact, it didn’t take Golden Arches long to become the best go-to meal for people in a hurry. We can’t blame the Japanese for changing their healthy habits, though. No one can resist the fast-food chain’s delicious meals. They’re highly addictive, after all.
