McDonald’s used plastic packaging a few years ago
While plastic packaging may be practical and cheap, it has a negative impact on the environment. This material takes over a thousand years to degrade naturally and contaminates oceans, rivers, and lakes. Because of that, most fast-food companies have switched to eco-friendly packaging.
However, in the ’80s and ’90s, no one cared much about global warming and contamination. Even McDonald’s used non-biodegradable packaging. The good thing was that no fluids nor solids could escape those styrofoam boxes, and you didn’t make a mess when you took your order home.
