Planning a Ghostbusters Watch-A-Thon, But Unsure About the Menu? Who You Gonna Call? Us, Actually.

In just over a month we will finally get to watch the newest installment of Ghsotubsters, known as ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’. Afterlife takes place thirty years after the conclusion of the second film and revolved around a single mother and her two kids moving to small-town Oklahoma to discover they have a family connection to the original Ghostbusters. And just in case you’re wondering, we can assure you that the OG’s, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver, and Annie Potts will be reprising their iconic 80’s roles.

With the release of the new film, we anticipate (and encourage) three will be some scary good Ghostbuster-themed parties with a lot of binge-watching happening. If this sounds like your idea of a good time, allow us to help you play the menu. After all, food is the most important part of any social gathering. Doesn’t everything else just kind of take care of itself?

Let’s get started.

Marshmallow Slime Popcorn

Okay, what’s a movie night without popcorn anyway? And with just a few extra ingredients, ya know, like green food coloring and edible eyeballs, you can turn a basic snack into a sticky, green, slimy, spooky party treat.

Stay Puft Cookies

A s’more, but premade and somewhat less mess. This cookie is not only paying homage to the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man but it’s also everyone’s favorite campfire dessert. Basically, an all-around win if you ask us.

Green Cauldron Fondue

You simply can’t have enough green slimy foods at a Ghostbusters movie marathon, and this green cauldron fondue is a great way to serve up all different kinds of finger foods. Bust out fresh fruit, pretzels, crostini, chocolate, and of course, giant marshmallows for your guests to much on.

Lime Jello Shots

If your Ghostbusters party is 21+, we say to turn these green glowing jello shots into a drinking game. Need some pointers? We’ll get you started! Drink when:

  • a character gets slimed
  • you see a ghost
  • whenever a character gets slime on them
  • anytime someone says ‘ghostbusters’

Just make sure to drink plenty of water and always drink responsibly!

Spinach Artichoke Dip

Not only is this a classic 80’s side dish that everyone loves, but with a little green food coloring, you have another green Slimer-inspired finger food to serve up. We love spinach artichoke dip with some freshly baked crostini or garlic and parmesan pita chips.

If you’re feeling a little extra, we recommend hitting up your local thrift stores or a party store to snag black platters and black cauldrons to serve your party foods in for a seriously spooky spread.

And it probably goes without saying, but if you’re really feeling extra, make this movie marathon a costume party! Seriously, how much better does it get than devouring Slimer and Stay Puft inspired snacks dressed as an actual Ghostbuster?

We hope we’ve encouraged a ghoulishly delightful Ghostbusters movie binge!
