Gru has stolen many artifacts with the help of the Minions
At the end of Despicable Me, after the girls’ bedroom has been transformed into a more comforting place for them to properly stay in, the camera moves to another scene that shows most of the world’s famous paintings and artifacts. It’s quite a humorous and impressive feat.
Gru has stolen these with the help of the Minions to help finance his plan to steal the moon. Hanging on the wall are Leonardo Da Vinci’s “Mona Lisa” and Van Gogh’s “Starry Night.” It is clear that Gru’s Minions excellently executed his smaller plans in preparation for the bigger ones. Apparently, the sky really is the limit.
