Spider bites can be extremely painful, and they certainly do not look pretty. However, several medical conditions can lead to gross-looking symptoms. Physicians should always be mindful not to make the patient feel bad. If they see something disgusting, they should exercise some tact and keep their comments to themselves.
When people are tired, they might lower their inhibitions and be more likely to speak the truth, no matter how rude or awkward they might be. You would expect a four-year-old child to have that reaction, not a professional. Besides, who is this doctor kidding? They have probably seen worse.
