The North vs. South rivalry extends to the examination room
There have always been differences between Northern and Southern states. The rivalry is almost as old as the United States itself! According to the stereotypes, Southerners are more polite, their way of life is slower, while Northerners are less friendly and more cosmopolitan. People from Brooklyn, in particular, might have their own stereotypes since the city and its people have such a unique dynamic.
This Tennessee doctor did not appreciate how his Brooklyn-raised co-worker addressed the patients. Although different places indeed have different customs, rudeness should not be attributed to a person’s place of origin. We should all strive to be polite to others, no matter where we come from.
