Sometimes, sharing some personal details can be a good idea in a professional situation. It is not a requirement, though, and there is a possibility sharing can turn to oversharing. For example, the type of underwear you use is up to you, but you would not want to announce it to the entire world like this doctor inadvertently did.
Maybe it was for a prank, or perhaps they had to settle a bet. Then again, he might prefer that particular type of underwear. Who are we to judge?
