Grandpa was not on his best day at the funeral
Parents do not always think about how hurtful their words can be to their children. Not everyone is made out of steel. But even if we all were, hearing mean comments from our parents still hurts, no matter your age.
This poor woman had to go through the loss of her mother and also plan her funeral. Who cares if she is thin or not? Her father can be as sad as he wants, but he should have appreciated her effort instead of attacking her.
