Doing something more interesting than mourning
Teenagers and young adults cannot be less bothered when it comes to funerals. When someone close to them dies, they might care a little bit more. But they will not give a damn about attending the funeral of an old distant relative.
Maybe these young girls were mourning their grandmother in an unconventional way. Who knows, really. People these days have their own ways of dealing with grief, and this might just be one of those. They probably could have waited until after leaving the cemetery, though.
