Mr. Miyagi’s Life Lesson
“The Karate Kid” is an American martial arts drama film that blew up on our screens in the early 80s. Robert Mark Kamen wrote the film, and John G. Avildsen directed it. It was the first installment of The Karate Kid franchise before Will Smith’s son Jaden and Jackie Chan starred in the second installment in 2010.
“Wax on, Wax Off” is a line said to Daniel LaRusso by his master Nariyoshi Miyagi as a defensive technique. He says to Daniel, “Wax on the right hand. Wax off the left hand. Wax on, wax off. Breathe in through your nose, out through your mouth. Wax on, wax off. Don’t forget to breathe. Very important,” as he teaches him the Miyagi-Do Karate. Anyone can hear this line and know it is from the classic 80s film.
