Spartacus is a 1960 American epic historical drama film. It was directed by Stanley Kubrick and written by Dalton Trumbo. The movie was inspired by the historical figure Spartacus. Spartacus was a Thracian gladiator who led a major slave revolt against the Roman Empire.
The famous scene occurred when Kirk Douglas played Spartacus, the renowned revolt leader. A Roman general announces that the group of formerly enslaved people will be crucified if they don’t identify Spartacus. Spartacus prepares to speak, but the enslaved people surround him, and all declare, “I am Spartacus!”
