A pipe burst and flooded the bathroom, which then froze over
Having a pipe burst in your house can completely destroy a house or apartment. Water damage can practically ruin any furniture item that gets wet. It will also destroy appliances and can even cause structural damage to the building, which is why floods are not an easy issue to fix.
It can be even worse in winter if the water freezes. This bathroom did not only flood, but it also froze completely. It would have been impossible for the homeowner to even get in since the ice is very slippery.
