Water from a leak upstairs caused the ceiling to droop
Have you ever gotten water damage on the bathroom roof or any in other room in the house? If you have, you know that it presents as little bubbles underneath the paint. This photo is dark and hazy, so it might be hard to identify exactly what is going on here.
What we can see is less a bubble and more like a water balloon. There was obviously a flood in the apartment above them and it filtered down into their ceiling. Miraculously, the paint and plaster held all the water inside, which is why the whole roof looks like a mattress.
