Casamigos by George Clooney
Casamigos is a tequila brand developed by George Clooney and owned by Diageo since 2017. Actor Clooney, nightlife industry entrepreneur Rande Gerber, and property developer Mike Meldman founded the label in 2013. Gerber and Clooney founded the company with the intention of making tequila to their tastes and for their own usage, with no plans to take it public.
However, Casamigos translates to “home of friends” from the Spanish casa (house) and amigos (friends). Casamigos was bought by the international beverage company Diageo in June 2017 for $700 million, with an additional $300 million based on the brand’s performance. Diageo paid over $500 per bottle for the deal. It is a bar staple and favorite amongst tequila enthusiasts.
