We all know before the advancement of technology, most TV shows, soap operas, and movies were viewed in monochrome black and white. However, the actors presented all these scenes in color because color has always existed.

Then a caption (which even the blind could see as a joke) was attached to the image as we viewed it in color; the actors and actresses filmed the movie in black and white, meaning they would be unable to tell the difference in the traffic lights. Our knight-in-shining-armor decided to help us explain what we already knew, thereby defiling the joke.
