You should never give your date a gift you got for free; just saying
If you want to impress your date, you should probably give them a special gift. In addition, everyone wants someone who is honest about their feelings and keeps them real. It eliminates a lot of the uncertainty and waiting that comes with dating. However, it would help if you occasionally kept your mouth shut.
You are already on the wrong track if you are regifting something. Moreover, why is this guy being so forthright about it? If you give free donuts for your date on Valentine’s Day, try not to say it! Especially if you are trying to impress your significant other. It might look as if you do not care about them so much.
