Many people who replied to this Reddit thread find the lifestyles in other people’s homes a bit surprising when it addresses a particular trauma. Caring for your kids, checking on them, making enough time to play, and being present in their lives is what is expected of any responsible dad.
And from the look of things, not everyone has a present and caring father figure. To think that a 7th-grade kid had held the firm belief that paying attention and caring for your kids was a weird thing to do is some high level of abandonment trauma.
