Not Every Person From A Poor Country is Poor
There is a narrative that most people have of Third World countries and those who come from there. This person may not have had that prejudice, but he was sure fed a lot of “we grew up in the dirt” stories by his friend till they had the chance to go see for themselves.
Many developing countries are not notably stricken with poverty, as it is widely believed. Or maybe they are, but there is an elite ruling class that controls most of the wealth and lives well off. The friend in question falls into such a category. And he indeed had a lot to tell!
