All you need is love
Many blunders can be avoided if watching a documentary or tutorial does not make people believe that they already know enough about a topic to start giving their opinions freely. There is much to learn and much to keep quiet. But please study and check the sources of information before providing an opinion on a topic.
At least it seems this hippie friend was kind. But it is still very annoying when someone who does not have studies to support their arguments tries to explain subjects as complex as investments to specialists in the field. But as surely this hippie friend must know, the only important thing is peace and love, so it would be better not to get angry.
