Getting into the wrong car
Going on a first date with someone who has a car can be tricky. If you don’t know much about cars, and your date is not sitting inside the car when you arrive, you might mistake their car and get into a stranger’s car, just like in this case.
Anna didn’t want him to open the door for her so she tried to get to the car first. Imagine his face when he saw her sitting very placidly in a vehicle that wasn’t his or the car’s owner if they saw all this show, thinking they should close the door next time.
