Catching 40 Winks
Are there any linguists in the house? If so, then this one is for you. This one-liner plays on the redundancy we use in English, figuring out our usual sayings of “go to” sleep instead of saying “do a sleep,” “take a sleep,” or “make a sleep.”
Up there, the joke is all about kleptomaniacs who instead of “sleep”, “take” sleep. A kleptomaniac is a person who can not control his urge to steal. We have also heard about them stealing a few winks. To ensure you are safe from being a victim, you may also consider taking a sleep. Or maybe an eye opened, the other closed. Watch your back, there is a kleptomaniac around who only takes a sleep while you are enjoying your sleep, snoring.
