It’s that time of the year when we ‘turn back the hands of time’ again. Is ‘yay!’ even appropriate? This year, November 5th was the day to turn back the time. The interesting thing about daylight saving time is that it’s both good and bad news. We’ve gathered five of the funniest memes that summarize how we feel about DST. Let’s go!
It’s not really a ‘gift’
Have you ever received a gift from someone, and you remembered they owed it to you in the first place? Well, that’s how some people feel about daylight saving time ‘enjoyment.’ Well, are these people right?
Of course, they are right. The extra hour of sleep daylight saving time ‘gives’ us isn’t a gift. It’s the one hour that was taken from us earlier in the spring season. So it’s more like giving us what was ours in the first place.
DST isn’t totally bad…nor good
Daylight saving time affects two different seasons; you can say it has two different sides. Well, this implies separate effects- how we feel about turning the clock forward in spring is different from the feeling of turning it back in fall.
In the fall, we often enjoy the extra hour we get to sleep; it feels like every activity is waiting for us. Well, when it’s time to ‘give’ that hour back, it often feels like everything is rushing us. We begin to wonder why DST is a thing at all.
Well, they told us parenting was a job
People say now and then that parenting is the most rewarding job, and we truly believe it. However, when it comes to parenting your kids when the clocks are turned forward, it’s a demanding job.
The most common problem is convincing your kids to sleep when it’s still bright outside. Another issue is when they wake up extra early when your brain is still in hibernation mode. It makes you see how hard parenting is.
A major advantage that we always appreciate
Daylight saving time is mainly about adjusting our clocks and schedules, you’ll agree. We make sure to adjust our clocks by an hour, or else we’d go to work, church, and everywhere too early or, worse, too late. Well, there are some clocks we often forget.
That clock sitting high up in your bedroom and our car clocks are usually in the forgotten category. At least, these clocks become correct when it’s DST again. Although they are wrong for several weeks, they correct themselves magically.
You mean some people don’t feel all these?
From Mondays when we feel like one cup of coffee isn’t enough to get us prepared for the work ahead to Sundays when we get to church late because we didn’t remember to set our clocks forward, DST is a roller coaster of experiences.
Well, it’s always amazing to remember that some parts of the US, like Arizona, have nothing to do with DST. Especially during spring forward (when we have to adjust our clocks by going an hour ahead), we feel like migrating to these places. But, honestly? We’d rather have our DST thrills.
