A Collection of Things Learned On, You Guessed It, TikTok

June 17, 2022 by Shelley Thompson

Okay, admit it, you downloaded TikTok as a joke, but now you’re talking only in TikTok audios. (Seriously, we can’t be the only ones, right? Are we the drama?) Whether you’re willing to admit it or not, you’ve probably learned a thing or two on TikTok as well, we know we certainly have. So we put together a list of the best, most interesting tips, tricks, and hacks we’ve learned on TikTok. Let’s get started!

First tip, rethink that monogrammed doormat. If someone knows your address and your first initial of your last name, or your last name in its entirety, a lot of damage can be done with just those two pieces of vital information.

You can put other things in the toaster aside from bread, take toaster-dillas for example. Toaster-dillas happen when you wrap your tortilla around the cheese, like a carb wallet, then you simply place in the toaster, and in a matter of minutes, you have a crunchy, cheesy, melty toaster-dilla! The perfect on-the-go lunch! (Or dinner, breakfast, late-night snack, you name it!)

In a word: validation. If you’ve been on TikTok for any amount of time then you’ve probably come across a video all about anxiety or depression, and signs to look for. And while this can all be found on Google, TikTok took it to a new level which was normalizing habits you thought were totally unique to you and we think that’s pretty incredible.

Draining hot grease without the mess. This is one of those “DUH” moments when we saw this hack. If you’re still in the dark, you simply lay aluminum foil in your sink and create a cup out of it in the center to pour your hot grease into, then you can wad the whole thing up, throw it in the trash, and never again panic throw it into your neighbor’s yard.

Buying alcohol in bulk is more cost-efficient. Okay, money-saving hacks in general (but we’re being serious about the alcohol thing!) Some of us just aren’t sure where to start when it comes to saving money but luckily there are people out there that really know their stuff. And those people have TikTok accounts. (Thankfully!)

Being smart on social media tips are never-ending, and we may think we know it all like not taking a picture in front of your license plate or address, but there are things out there we didn’t even know about; like how you shouldn’t take a picture of your new house key because there are computer programs that can copy them just from a picture.

While we could go on for days about all of the sweet hacks we’ve learned, we’ll leave you with one that has saved us so much time in the kitchen and that is grating our herbs. We love using fresh herbs in recipes but getting the leaves off can be a finicky chore; now, we just pull the stems through our grater and let the leaves fall off in milliseconds.
