The Emmy Awards, scheduled for January 15, 2024, is one of the most anticipated events in the Hollywood entertainment industry. Although this ceremony is planned to air next year, predictions and buzz are already circulating about the impact of the ongoing strike on the ceremony’s success. As always, the recent nominations and predictions got tongues wagging as your favorite celebrities were nominated while some were snubbed; here’s all you need to know!

Jeffrey Dahmer Got a Nomination Amid Public Outcry  

Despite public condemnation of romanticizing the serial killer image, “Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” is predicted to be a strong contender for the upcoming Emmy Awards. The series received multiple nominations, to the surprise of the general public.

The horror series clinched 13 nominations in total, including one in the “Outstanding Limited or anthology series.” This clean sweep earned acting recognitions for Evan Peters and Richard Jenkins. It also bagged a few nominations for directing icons Carl Franklin and Paris Barclay.

An Ethereal Recognition for Hollywood’s New “Willy Wonka”

Another surprising Emmy nomination that snuck up on us is that of Timothée Chalamet for his role in the movie “Willy Wonka.” Chalamet has already racked up multiple nominations and awards, including the British Academy Film Awards.

Being one of the young nominees, his appearance is a significant achievement, as the movie did not receive any other individual nominations. Chalamet’s versatility in singing, dancing, and acting is proof of his talent, and we couldn’t be more proud of the young actor. 

“Barbie” Emerges Top in Emmy Nominations, “Oppenheimer” Shadows Close 

The 81st Golden Globes recent nominations have shown that “Barbie” is a strong contender. After securing nine outstanding nominations, the movie is undoubtedly one of the best in 2023. Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling were also nominated for individual awards.

Following closely is Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer.” It clinched eight nominations and will have to outmatch “Barbie” in the “Best Picture” category.

Ted Lasso schools Abbott Elementary in the Department of Mockumentary

These recent nominations came with many surprises as “Ted Lasso” outperformed its fellow comedy series, “Abbot Elementary.” This came as a surprise to many as fans had hoped for “Abbott Elementary.” “Ted Lasso” scored multiple nominations for the series and also scored individual nominations for its costars.

“Abbot Elementary” does not seem to be performing poorly, as it also hitched some spots on the nominations list. The show, created by Quinta Brunson, has made a significant impact in TV history and has continually churned out quality comedic episodes.

In a Battle for the Strongest: The “Last of Us” Entwines with “Succession” 

The 2022 Emmy nominations have positioned “Succession” and “The Last of Us” as likely winners as they gathered an impressive number of nominations. Both shows are well-loved and watched, so fans are eager to see which series will take more wins.
