Calling All Vintage Lovers: This is Our Go-To Vintage Shop

You’re probably here reading this because you love vintage fashion, and frankly, who doesn’t? The colors, the details, the funky prints, and don’t even get us started on the delicious aroma of vintage clothing. Today we’ll be telling you all about a little store we stumbled upon in Portland, Oregon, and immediately fell in love with. But before we start doting on Xtabay Vintage, we wanted to convince all you non-vintage shoppers that we’re not crazy for buying threads from decades past. (We swear!)

Why Buy Vintage?

A lot of people probably think vintage clothes are threadbare and dusty, and while that is the case sometimes, it’s not the case all of the time. So here are just a few of the many reasons we love to shop vintage.

  • History Preservation | Wearing vintage clothing is like being the time machine. Think about it! That precious little 1960s mini skirt could have been worn by a woman protesting the fact she wanted to wear a mini skirt! If clothes could talk, right?
  • Vintage = Creativity | Sure, you can get creative with the threads you’re buying online or at your favorite retailer now, but there’s just something about vintage pieces that get our creative juices flowing, something that makes us want to take risks.
  • You’re (Probably) Supporting Small Business | Odds are if you’re buying vintage, you’re getting it locally, and if you’re buying local and supporting small business not only are you making someone’s dream come true each and every time, but you’re supporting your very own community.

Okay, we could go on and on about why we love shopping vintage, but we need to tell you about our favorite place to do so at! This brings us to Xtabay Vintage in Portland, Oregon. First things first, here is just a little tidbit about the owner:

Editorial content

“Looking back, it’s almost inevitable that Liz Gross would create Portland’s most stylishly sumptuous vintage clothing boutique. When she was a child, Liz commandeered the crayon box to draw ball gowns. (https://woodlees.com/) Afternoons she spent in her grandmother’s attic trying on silk cocktail ensembles and moth-eaten mink stoles. By the time Liz was 18, she was on a first-name basis with the staff at the thrift stores and estate sales she raided for rhinestone brooches and World War Two-era rayon dresses.”

At Xtabay you can find vintage evening wear, daywear, hats, shoes, jewelry, even vintage bridal, and each piece has been perfectly preserved. Whether you’re on the hunt for something specific or just want to ogle at vintage pretties for a while, Xtabay is sure to impress.
