Escape in silence, please
In every aspect of life, there are rules and regulations to comply with. In this picture, we see a hotel’s emergency door instructing guests how to behave while exiting the building in case there is a fire. The sign tells guests to close the door gently because tenants may be sleeping. It is a curious message considering that if their lives are in danger, it would be better to disturb them with a loud knock on their door instead of letting them continue to sleep.
This is quite ironic. The human instinct of survival tells us that we must warn others of possible danger to save their lives. Still, it seems that good rest and sleeping without any noise are a priority at this hotel. Although in the case of a fire, this may include sleeping forever.
