Remember being a teen and doing anything and everything you could to pretty much torment your parents? Out of love, of course. After all, it’s what teenagers do, right? Imagine not only having your parent’s eyes on you (at all times it felt like) but the eyes of an entire nation. Some of these may surprise you, but none of them will bore you, here are just a few of our past president’s children that have certainly caused a ruckus.
Alice Roosevelt

Smoking on the roof, riding in cars with boys, bet making, wearing pants, chewing gum, and owning a pet snake are just a few of the things Alice was notorious for. Now, some people could laugh off her antics, but as you can imagine, a lot of people absolutely could not. We totally get why Teddy Roosevelt once said, “I can do one of two things. I can be President of the United States or I can control Alice Roosevelt. I cannot possibly do both.” Most parents have probably thought this about their own kids after all.
Irvin Garfield
There’s always that one kid, ya know? But President Garfield’s son was caught on a number of occasions riding his bike down the stairs of the White House. Now, at first thought riding a bike down the stairs sounds kinda like a normal crazy kid thing to do, but you have to remember that these stairs are White House stairs and while we aren’t aware of the rules in the White House, we imagine riding your bike down the stairs is kind of a no-no.
Amy Carter

Not all ruckus is bad ruckus and Amy Carter is one to prove that. Let’s see, this girl read her book during a formal state dinner, which frankly, we applaud. But because she was so young when her dad was elected she wasn’t actually making headlines until a little bit later in life. Like getting arrested in 1985 for political activism. And again in 1987. But something tells us her Dad probably wasn’t too upset raising a daughter that was willing to fight the good fight.
Patti Davis
Daughter to Conservative President Ronal Reagan, Patti didn’t really fit the whole conservative scene. She was a hippie through and through which absolutely did not pair well with Nancy’s war on drugs. In later years, Patti spoke out against her parents, took part in a number of anti-nuclear protests, and even posed for Playboy.
