The Y2K panic
Do you remember the whole Y2K panic? Basically, there was a bug called Y2K that would cause a potentially disastrous failure on computers worldwide. Experts believed that older software systems would read “00” as 1900 instead of 2000, which would lead to many errors and malfunctions.
As we’ve seen previously on this list, even big companies like Best Buy advised people to shut off their computers before midnight. However, once the year 2000 rolled around, nothing much happened. There was no technological apocalypse. All computers survived, and so did we.
