Popular Mechanics’ estimation that computers would be heavy
Back in the day when computers were invented, they were hefty machines that required many circuits and a lot of energy to solve simple mathematical calculations. Some people speculated how computers would evolve, and Popular Mechanics concluded that they’d weigh 1.5 tons.
In Popular Mechanics’ defense, they made their estimation when computers were still massive mechanical and electrical contraptions. Perhaps they were accurate in the near term. Still, their prediction looks naive and ridiculous now that we can carry computers in our bags.
