Laptop screens are not the most durable or resistant piece of technology ever created. Screens, in general, tend to be quite fragile, in fact. That is why we should always try to keep them safe and not throw items close to them.
We have to play Devil’s advocate in this case. Yes, their brother should not have thrown the chapstick because the chances of missing were apparently high. But this person asked for the chapstick in the first place and did not even close the computer to avoid the damage in the first place.
