Top Gun is an action drama that was released in 1986. It stars Tom Cruise, who portrayed Lieutenant Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, a young naval aviator aboard the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise.
Although the movie received mixed reviews upon its release, it became a huge commercial success, raking in a record $357 million against a production budget of $15 million and becoming the highest-grossing domestic film of 1986.
