The Amityville Horror was inspired by actual events that took place in Amityville, New York. A young man, Ronald DeFeo Jr., killed his parents and three siblings with a rifle claiming that he was under the influence of evil spirits over which he had no control.
The house where these gruesome murders took place still stands in Amityville. Talks about the 4000 sq. ft. property being haunted started to spread after the Lutz family hurriedly evacuated it just 28 days after moving in. They paid $80,000 for it, which, although initially considered a steal, abandoned the house reporting paranormal activities. The Amityville home may be haunted (or maybe not). But either way, this is not one of the houses on the list I’d like to visit.
