Yuan Yuan Tan Barbie
Yuan Yuan Tan is a Chinese dancer who joined the San Francisco Ballet when she was 18. She was the youngest principal dancer of that time and is currently a prominent figure in the company. Her father was against her career choice as he wanted her to become a doctor, a profession most parents consider “reasonable,” but she followed her heart and built her career over the years.
Yuan’s doll was part of Barbie’s “Sheroes” collection in 2018, a collection that honors and celebrates modern-day and historic role models from around the world.
