Fajitas only come without beef in the US

There are many places where you can order some delicious fajitas in the US. They’re grilled meat with stripped peppers and onions served on a flour or corn tortilla. However, it seems that Americans don’t use the word “fajita” correctly.

The word “fajita” commonly refers to the small strips of beef meat used to prepare the meal and not to the dish itself. Since foreigners don’t give the name “fajita” to dishes without beef, shrimp fajitas are uniquely American.
