Hamburgers are pretty different in Japan
When an American dish makes its way into other cultures, those who prepare them often change its name and recipe. The traditional ingredients from the US get replaced by ingredients from a different kind of cuisine, and the original meal is wholly transformed.
In the case of hamburgers, Japan offers a unique dish where the hamburger is slathered in a sauce instead of served between two slices of bread. Some restaurants even put a fried egg over the meat medallion, making the meal even tastier.
