Fan Clubs
Today, we have the Internet, and it is easier to follow your favorite celebrities on social media. But before that was possible, fan clubs were the only way to bridge the gap between fan and artist.
Although it is more convenient, following an artist on social media is not the same as gaining entry into one of these elite fan clubs. Apart from the joy of being a “certified” fan, membership in fan clubs afforded fans the privilege of having access to individual newsletters, merchandise, and behind the scenes that other people can’t get. The world has come a long way since the 80s, and while development and change are good, those who grew up in the 80s know that we don’t need advanced technology, like the Internet, to be happy and lead productive lives. While many of us would like to go back in time and relive the 80s, others have since “moved on.” Yes, the 80s were a great time, and we are eternally grateful for the privilege of living through that great decade. However, we remain confident that the best is yet to come. (hotelfauchere.com)
