Kids in the 80s were the first to grow up with a computer. Although they were quite expensive at first, by the end of the decade, most people could afford a personal computer.
The most important technology we use today, the Internet, was unveiled for public use in the 80s after being used as a defense tool by the government. So many other revolutionary technologies, including the microwave and portable music players, were the offspring of tech that had already been invented in the 80s.
